Ilkley Grammar School Ranks among Top UK Schools for Oxbridge Success
Ilkley Grammar School (IGS) has been recognised as one of the UK’s top-performing schools for Oxbridge admissions, ranking 13th nationally for its offer-to-application conversion rate in 2024.
With 13 offers from 32 applications, a 41% success rate, IGS outperformed prestigious independent schools such as Eton and Harrow. Notably, it’s the highest-ranking non-selective state comprehensive school in the country and the only school in Leeds, Bradford, and Calderdale to feature in the rankings.
Headteacher, Carly Purnell attributed the success to the hard work and ambition of students, the dedication of staff, and the strength of the school’s post-16 “Next Steps” programme and alumni network. She highlighted that this ranking is a powerful endorsement of what students in non-selective state schools can achieve with the right support and ambition.
