Eastburn Primary School Welcomes Bestselling Author Katie Kirby, creator of the bestselling Lottie Brooks illustrated dairy series.
As part of the National Year of Reading celebrations, Year 6 pupils at Eastburn Primary School entered a national competition to win an exclusive author event with Katie Kirby, creator of the bestselling Lottie Brooks illustrated diary series. With schools from across the UK taking part, Eastburn was delighted to be selected as the winning school.
Katie visited Eastburn on Wednesday, 30 September to deliver an exclusive event for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. The children had the opportunity to hear directly from the bestselling author about her books, the creative process behind them and her experiences as a writer. The visit was both inspiring and memorable, further encouraging pupils to develop a love of reading.
As part of the event, every child received a signed copy of the first Lottie Brooks book, providing a special memento of the day and encouraging pupils to continue their reading journey beyond the event.
Promoting reading for pleasure is a key priority at Eastburn, and the visit provided an exciting opportunity to further strengthen the school’s reading culture. It generated real enthusiasm for books, with pupils eager to discuss their reading, share recommendations and discover new stories.
